SCAR
Why not try real solutions?
Spokane could just decide to love its community more. Everyone wants less crime, but leaning on police to do all the work just creates more prisoners. We need to actually invest in our community; in each other.

SCAR believes that racism is a pervasive and destructive force in our society, and that it is our responsibility to take action to dismantle it. Anti-racism work is about more than just opposing individual acts of racism – it is about working to address the systemic and institutionalized forms of oppression that perpetuate inequality and injustice.
At its core, anti-racism is about actively working to create a society that is free from racism and discrimination. This means that we must be willing to confront our own biases and privileges, and to take action to support marginalized communities. Anti-racism work is not a passive activity – it requires a commitment to ongoing learning, growth, and action.
Education: One of the most important aspects of anti-racism work is education. This includes learning about the history and legacy of racism, as well as the ways in which it continues to impact individuals and communities today. It also involves learning about the experiences of marginalized communities and working to understand the impact of our own actions and biases.
Advocacy: Anti-racism work means advocating for policies and practices that promote racial justice and equality. This may include working to change laws and policies that perpetuate racism or advocating for increased resources and support for marginalized communities.
Community building: We believe in building up and uplifting the Spokane community creating spaces where people can come together to learn, grow, and take action is a core to anti-racist work. Focusing on community care, we find avenues for social and volunteer opportunities that help enrich our members, volunteers, and friends.
Direct action: We need to Take direct action to challenge systems of oppression and promote racial justice. This may include participating in protests or demonstrations, engaging in civil disobedience, or taking other actions to disrupt the status quo.
At SCAR, we are committed to doing anti-racism work in all of these areas. We believe that everyone has a role to play in creating a more just and equitable society and that by working together, we can make a real difference.
We recognize that anti-racism work is not easy and that it can be uncomfortable and challenging at times. However, we also believe that it is necessary and essential work. We are committed to creating a space where people can come together to learn, grow, and take action in the fight against racism.
